Much of the drug discovery space is focused on thinking about creating drugs to target the one element of a cell of disease that is broken. But a cell is only one part of a much bigger network. Arpeggio Bio sees diseases as a system, a network of interconnected elements that can be treated with the discovery of molecules that fix the whole system, not just one part. As part of a re-launch, the Arpeggio Bio team approached Wunderdogs to support a brand refresh, expanding on core elements to build a new visual identity and website.
While others think of drug discovery as finding and treating a specific protein that affects the disease, Arpeggio Bio thinks of disease as a network made up of not just one protein but thousands. By embracing the complexity of biology they can measure a drug's impact on hundreds of thousands of RNA molecules at once. This sense of scale led us down the route of a visual identity based on infinite scale. Through simple patterns that scale in size and structure, we created a flexible visual language that connected with their technology and the needs of their audiences.
Biology is messy, natural, and ever-evolving. Technology is defined and specific. When the two worlds combine, incredible things happen. Our choice of colors, photography, and visual assets aimed to combine these two worlds in ways that felt fresh and differentiated within the sector. Taking the lead from the brand’s existing logo we expanded the visual language into a set of different but complementary assets that combine to create a fluid and visually engaging experience.
With the identity and visual language in place, we created a website experience that continued the themes of visual engagement with an experience that provides users with a logical yet intriguing flow through the site. Pairing imagery with patterns creates visual stopping points that are complemented by descriptions of technology, team, and pipeline. Using subtle animations and hover states along with color helps clarify where interaction points exist and helps users find information quickly.
