As genomic experimentation accelerates, sample preparation remains a persistent bottleneck. Volta Labs recognized that solving this challenge could fundamentally reshape biological research. Their platform, built by engineering the full stack across hardware, software, chemistry, and biology, offered a more flexible, scalable, and reliable solution. Volta Labs needed a brand that would reflect their maturity and signal their significance in the biotech landscape.

PEOPLE AND PRODUCT

We began by defining the foundation: clarifying Volta’s mission, vision, and value proposition. This strategic groundwork allowed the team to articulate not only what they were building, but why it mattered and who it was for. By aligning their product benefits with the needs of modern labs, we struck a balance between breakthrough technology and the people behind it. This dual focus was essential in building credibility with both investors and potential partners.

A distinctive identity for biotech

The visual identity brought Volta’s unique positioning to life, setting them apart in a category often dominated by clinical sterility or overly technical language. We created a system that blended precision with personality, abstracting the flow of genomic data into clean lines, color contrast, and animated forms that suggest movement and transformation.

The result

Volta Labs successfully launched their new brand alongside a $20M Series A announcement in summer 2022, positioning them as a leading innovator in the next chapter of automated biology.
